Chapman University's MFA in Creative Writing is a two-year, full-residency terminal degree program located in the heart of Orange County, California. Through this intensive, 36-credit program, students immerse themselves in workshop-based study across fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction, working closely with faculty to develop a book-length thesis manuscript that showcases their unique voice. With competitive full-tuition fellowships, hands-on teaching opportunities, and the flexibility to explore cross-genre and experimental work, Chapman's MFA prepares writers not just to finish a degree but to build a lasting creative practice. Applications for Fall 2027 are currently open.
