Matsuya Creative is an independent comics studio founded by brothers Ben and John Matsuya. This year they’re bringing the horror-comedy graphic novel Midnight Massacre and debuting our one-shot The Bride Wore Black to the 2026 OC Book Fair. Matsuya Creative make comics that are scary, funny, and everything in between; 100% human-made: written, drawn, and hand-crafted. No AI.

Born and raised in Southern California, they tell stories that reflect the genre-blending character of where they’re from and heavily influenced by movies: both business and history. Illustrator Ben Matsuya is a Ringo Award–Nominated artist and Disney Imagineering finalist whose credits include Jupiter Jet (with Jason Inman & Ashley Victoria Robinson) and True Believers (with Stephen Graham Jones & Josh Viola). Writer John Matsuya has been recognized for his screenwriting and makes his graphic-novel debut with Midnight Massacre.
