Subverting Expectations is an unapologetically intersectional feminist bookstore that celebrates all things women. Women can be multiple things at once. Women can be anything they want to be, even if those things seem contradictory. Strong and vulnerable, sexual and reserved, outspoken and personable, book smart and street smart. They want to create a space where women feel empowered to embrace every aspect of themselves. By existing fully as themselves, they will dismantle the patriarchy and white supremacy. They love learning. They love knowing things. They want to provide people with the opportunity to fall in love with knowledge and learning.
